Eyebrow/Facial Threading

Eyebrow/Facial Threading

Eyebrow/Facial threading is an ancient hair removal technique which has been used for centuries in the East to help remove facial hair. A particularly popular treatment in Asia and the Middle East, threading hair was seen as a simple, cheap and highly effective method for removing unwanted hair.

Proven to be an effective alternative to common methods such as plucking and waxing, threading is fast becoming the preferred choice for hair removal in the West.
A simple and relatively pain free technique, threading lends clean lines and shape to the eyebrows and removes unwanted facial hair.

As mentioned, threading hair has been used in India for many years now and it basically involves the use of a cotton thread and a practitioner. It is usually never done without a practitioner as it does require experience.

How does it work?

Generally, one end of the thread is held in the practitioner’s teeth and the other end is taken by the practitioner's left hand. The middle is then looped through the index finger and the middle fingers of the right hand. This creates a loop and that is used to remove the unwanted hair. It traps clumps of hair and pulls them from the skin. While it may sound painful, it definitely isn't and it is certainly a lot less painful than waxing!

People find that threading hair removal is better for facial hair as it is so gentle on the skin, as well as being quick and painless. So, if you have bushy eyebrows or unwanted hair just above the lip, this hair removal method may just be for you!

Eyebrow threading - Advantages and Disadvantages

As with all methods of hair removal, there are some disadvantages as well as advantages when it comes to threading. The advantages include long lasting results in which the hair does not generally grow back until around four weeks after it has been removed as the hair has been taken from the root. It is also considered to be less painful than plucking, which is what many women resort to sometimes, especially for their eyebrows and it does provide quick, neat results. The only disadvantage is that the skin can be red for a short time but soon goes down.

Compared to other methods the results last longer than they do if you were simply just shaving and it does provide quick, tidy results. It is something you should definitely consider, at least once in your life!
